Dear Racers, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Supporters,
It is with great disappointment and reluctance that I am announcing the official cancellation of the 2019 Father Dyer Postal Route Ski Race. Due to an overwhelming accumulation of setbacks, I am no longer capable of providing the fun, safe, and value-packed race experience that has been offered in the past. We are considering a revamped race and course for Spring of 2020, and hope that we can welcome you all back to Leadville next year.
All registered teams will have their entry fees fully refunded no later than the originally scheduled race date, April 6, 2019. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation.
I hope everyone is staying safe in all of this new snow. For anyone still considering visiting Leadville this Spring, there are miles of new groomed nordic ski trails at the golf course. Combined with the Mineral Belt Trail, the Turquoise Lake Loop, The East side mining district, and the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center, there are endless possibilities for nordic skiing and fat biking. Sunday April 7th is closing day at Ski Cooper, and is always a fun day of skiing and celebrating the end of the Cooper season. When avalanche conditions subside, there will be limitless backcountry and ski mountaineering objectives.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who has helped to make this race a success. It has been a true pleasure to share the Leadville backcountry experience with everyone.
All the best,
Tony Goldstein - Race Director
